Lake George man faces charges for DWI, attempted assault of police officer
WARRENSBURG -- A 40-year-old Lake George man who was arrested for driving drunk is now facing charges of assault and resisting arrest after he tried to assault a police officer who was transporting him to the county Sheriff's Office for processing, the Warren County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
Vincent Rathbun was arrested on River St. in the town of Warrensburg the night of Friday, Dec. 11 for driving while intoxicated. While he was being transported to the Sheriff's Office, Rathbun began to kick the back window of the patrol car, damaging the vehicle, said the Sheriff's Office.
When the arresting officer stopped the car and attempted to restrain Rathbun, Rathbun charged at the officer and kicked him in the legs, according to the Sheriff's Office. The officer wasn't seriously hurt.
Rathbun was taken to the Glens Falls Hospital for evaluation and later released.
He has been charged with DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and attempted assault.
