Scotia post office safe from possible closure
The Scotia Post Office is no longer among the post offices across the country the United State Postal Services is considering closing.
Three other post offices in the Capital Region -- all in Albany County -- still face possible closure. Seven area post offices were originally on the list.
USPS announced Friday its updated list of offices under review for possible consolidation, saying 241 remain under review. The agency says it lost $3.8 billion at the end of its 2009 fiscal year, necessitating a review of about 3,300 stations and branches across the country for consolidation.
Since the summer, when the review process began, USPS has been filing periodic updates identifying the retail stations and branches that remain under consideration for closure.
No final decisions have been made as a result of the reviews.
