Aircraft down in Columbia County
A single engine plane had an unexpected landing in Columbia County Wednesday afternoon. Pilot Jay Morrisette has just purchased the plane in Concorde New Hampshire and was expected to land in Kingston before his final leg of the trip to Virginia. He told State Police that he experienced engine problems and decided to put the 1946 Air Coupe fown in a farmer’s field on Rt. 8 in Clermont. The nose of the plane caught a rut in the field and flipped the plane over. The 50 year old pilot walked away from the plane with a few cuts and scrapes. He didn’t require medical attention. The FAA is expected to be at the site on Thursday.
